BIOGRAPHIE & DÉMARCHE
Formée au design de mode à Esmod Paris et à la fonte à cire perdue à l’École Boulle, Solène Kerlo est une artiste plasticienne française dont la pratique se déploie à la croisée de la peinture, de la sculpture et de la performance. Nourri par l’archéologie, l’anthropologie et les cosmologies anciennes, son travail explore les origines des mythes et la mémoire des civilisations à travers des œuvres conçues comme des reliques contemporaines, en laiton, cire d’abeille, sel cristallisé ou pigments de terre.
Ses recherches prennent corps dans des territoires chargés d’histoire et de spiritualité, du désert d’Atacama au Chili à ses collaborations autour de la fonte à cire perdue avec le maître fondeur burkinabé Alassane Dermé. Elle a notamment été accueillie en résidence à Poush, au DOC et aujourd’hui au sein de IOTA, ainsi qu’à La Wayaka et Casaplan au Chili, avec le soutien de l’Institut français au Chili.
De 2022 à 2025, son projet SALAR a constitué un cycle majeur de recherche et de création autour de la cosmogonie du désert d’Atacama, donnant lieu à l’exposition personnelle SALAR, une cosmogonie de l’eau à la Galerie Porte B à Paris et à la présentation de l’œuvre ARKAE dans le cadre de Nuit Blanche 2025. Son travail a également été présenté à la Galerie Loft, à la Galerie Larock-Granoff et à Poush, et remarqué par L’Officiel Galeries & Musées, Revue Portfolio, Zone Critique et Point Contemporain. Marraine du Cercle, elle participera également au Festival Anticipation en juin prochain.
BIOGRAPHY & PROCESS
Trained in fashion design at Esmod Paris and in lost-wax casting at École Boulle, Solène Kerlo is a French visual artist whose practice unfolds at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and performance. Nourished by archaeology, anthropology, and ancient cosmologies, her work explores the origins of myths and the memory of civilizations through artworks conceived as contemporary relics, made of brass, beeswax, crystallized salt, or earth pigments.
Her research takes shape in territories charged with history and spirituality, from the Atacama Desert in Chile to her collaborations in lost-wax casting with Burkinabé master founder Alassane Dermé. She has notably been in residence at Poush, DOC, and currently at Iota, as well as at La Wayaka and Casaplan in Chile, with the support of the Institut français du Chili.
From 2022 to 2025, her project SALAR formed a major cycle of research and creation centered on the cosmogony of the Atacama Desert, leading to the solo exhibition SALAR, a Cosmogony of Water at Galerie Porte B in Paris and the presentation of the work ARKAE as part of Nuit Blanche 2025. Her work has also been shown at Galerie Loft, Galerie Larock-Granoff, and Poush, and has been featured in L’Officiel Galeries & Musées, Revue Portfolio, Zone Critique, and Point Contemporain. As mentor of Le Cercle, she will also take part in the Anticipation Festival next June.
